Los Llanos tour (3 days / 2 nights)

East of Merida is a 230.000 km2 big area which is the Llanos plane. Llanos seems to be a never ending savannah with a unique variety of animals. The character of this region is affected by the rain season (June – November) and the dry season (December – May).
During the dry season when there is less and less water the animals have to fight in order to survive. When it starts to rain and the rain season is coming, the animals enjoy the water. We have two tours for you in Llanos.
Our comfortable three days tour with a stay in one of the biggest farms of the country "Hato el Frio". The second possibility is a budget 4 days group tour (from 4 persons on) which starts in Merida and is going to the far South of Apure.

From there we need 3 more hours till we get to our hammock camp in the width of Llanos.
Day 2: We eat breakfast on the farm of our Venezuelan host. Today we go horse riding through the untouched savannah. We will meet capybaras, caimans and a big variety of birds. After lunch we have time to take a little rest. In the afternoon we are going to search together with our guide for a special animal. With some luck we see an anaconda. In the evening we return to our camp.
Day 3: Today we go by boat to see river dolphins, iguanas and turtles. We observe as well different types of birds and maybe as well capybaras. On the small side arm of the river “Apure” you get a fantastic insight of the flora and fauna of the region. In this region live also otters and nutrias. If we are lucky we might see one.
After lunch we do a small walk and in the afternoon we fish piranhas which we will get for supper.
